Preparing my monday lecture at Italian Institute of Culture here, in Vancouver, we just meet a problem…how many museums are in Vancouver…15? 30? 60?
It is a relevant information to find, everywhere, and every time it is a not easy to find information.
anyway, after read different sources…about 50 museums in Vancouver area.
I visit many airports worldwide, never one impress me as the Vancouver International airport.
All the airport is structured to show British Columbia Cultural and Natural Heritage, a real gate.
Here a photo of what arriving visitor impact on.
Other photos of the San Francisco and British Columbia trip is in this page

I’m in San Francisco, so…no time for the blog in this period, but - please - comment the other posts…
I move photos on this page
From 20 years I’m an Apple user (first Apple II, then any MAC), for about 3 years I also work and use Commodore Amiga. Both Amiga and Mac create their success thanks to broad evangelism actions and thanks to many evangelists. There are many books, histories, articles etc about Apple evangelism and evangelists.
On of the most famous Apple Evangelist was and is Guy Kawasaki he also start a very interesting blog.
Other example of evangelism or viral marketing are Ducati and Harley Davidson.
Why I write about evangelism?
One of the main problem we have is to attract more visitors to museums and cultural institutions. Membership programs can be consider a tentative of museums evangelism, but need to do more and more. Here, for example, in Italy is a big problem on how to attract new visitors, the situation is very different from USA or UK or France.
So, please, anyone have experience of evangelism in museums?
I just add a page (and links on the side bar) with a first list of mailing lists related to museums. Please use comment to this post for mailing list to add.
thanks
Mario

THE “BROAD VISIBILITY”™ OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED MUSEUMS
“A lecture by Dr. Mario Bucolo.
Visibility is a key element to make people of all continents aware of the thousands museums existing in the world. Most visitors only know the largest museums in the most important cities of each country, and only rarely do they consider other museums in their travel itinerary.
How can small- and medium-sized museums become more visible both in traditional communication channels and, more importantly, through the new technological media such as Blog, Vblog, Podcast, Videopodcast, 3rd generation cell phones, PDA or PMI? The use of media integration is referred to as “BroadVisibility”™.
Mario Bucolo will discuss the issues of international visibility for small and medium-sized museums by drawing on analyses and discussions of know-how that has been developed in Italy and applied at the global level.”
